There is no sporting event quite like the Tour de France, the legendary cycling race consisting of 21 day-long stages run over 23 days, a competition that crisscrosses the French countryside. The race, which began in 1903 and has been held every year since (apart from the World Wars), takes a different route every year but covers around 2,100 miles and invariably crosses the Pyrenees and the Alps before ending in the ritual ride down the Champs-Élysées in Paris. There are typically 20 to 22 teams of eight riders competing, cheered on by thousands of bystanders who range from the merely enthusiastic to the rabid, perched on the perimeter of the road on virtually every mile of the race. It is such a massive sporting event and celebration in France that the US equivalent would have to be rolling the Super Bowl, the World Series and the Stanley Cup together to match the excitement. The 107th Edition of the Tour de France will take place from June 27 - July 19, 2020.
Now Trek Travel, a cycling vacation company offering cycling tours around the globe, is the Official Tour Operator for the tour and has come out with six new 2020 Tour de France Bike Tours as well as an exclusive finish line viewing party. The company promises behind-the-scenes access to the Trek-Segafredo team along with VIP race access at key stages throughout the tour, including the Grand Depart in Nice, the climbs of Col de la Madeleine, Col des Aravis, Col des Glières and the finishes on the Col de la Loze, La Roche sur Foron and the Paris finale.
